Frequently Asked Questions About Lifts & Elevators
Clear answers to common questions about lift selection, quotation, installation, maintenance, repair, modernization and after-sales support. For detailed technical or commercial information, each answer links to the relevant page.
Start with the question, then move to the detailed page
This FAQ is a quick-answer hub. It is not intended to replace the product, installation, maintenance, repair, pricing or legal pages.
If a question depends on your shaft, building, lift model or selected supplier, the final answer should come from the project-specific technical information rather than a generic figure.
What information is needed for a lift quotation?
Useful starting information includes the building type, project location, number of floors or stops, expected capacity, shaft information if available, preferred lift type or brand if any, and whether import or LC support is needed.
For the dedicated enquiry process, use the lift quotation page .
How much does a lift cost in Bangladesh?
There is no single useful price for every project. Cost can change with lift type, capacity, stops, speed, doors, cabin finish, controller or drive, shaft condition, installation scope, brand and imported components.
See the lift and elevator price guide for the factors that should be compared before requesting a final quotation.
Should I compare lift quotations only by price?
No. Compare what is actually included: lift type, rated capacity, stops, drive and control system, doors, cabin finish, installation, testing, warranty terms, service scope, exclusions and any project-specific civil or electrical responsibilities.
A lower figure is difficult to evaluate if the technical scope is not equivalent.
Do I need a site survey before the final quotation?
A site survey is useful whenever shaft dimensions, pit, overhead, landing openings, access, building conditions or an existing lift need to be verified. The exact requirement depends on the project.
You can also review the elevator site survey checklist .
Can Dhaka Lift Solutions help with importing a lift from China?
The site includes a dedicated service for China lift sourcing and LC-based import support. Supplier verification, PI/LC workflow, shipping, inspection and Bangladesh delivery are handled on that topic page rather than inside the FAQ.
What is a lift car?
The lift car is the moving cabin or platform that carries passengers or goods between floors. Its usable size, finish, doors and rated load depend on the selected lift system and intended use.
Which lift is suitable for an apartment building?
Apartment projects normally start with a passenger or residential lift requirement. Selection should consider the number of floors, expected residents and visitors, available shaft, desired capacity, traffic pattern and project budget.
See residential apartment lift solutions or the broader passenger lift page .
What type of lift is used in hospitals?
Hospital and healthcare projects may need a bed or stretcher lift planned around patient movement, attendants, doors and building circulation. The required car size and capacity should be confirmed for the actual project.
See hospital lift solutions .
Is a passenger lift suitable for factory or warehouse goods?
Not automatically. Goods movement can involve different loads, loading methods, trolleys, pallets, door widths, cabin finishes and duty patterns. Those requirements should be reviewed before selecting the lift type.
See cargo and goods lift solutions , factory lifts or warehouse lifts .
How do I choose the correct lift capacity?
Capacity should be selected from the intended building use, number of users or goods moved, traffic pattern, cabin size, shaft constraints and the selected lift system. Avoid choosing capacity only from a generic online table.
What happens before lift installation starts?
The project normally needs the requirement confirmed first, followed by site or drawing review, equipment selection and coordination of the shaft, pit, overhead, landing openings, power and access conditions relevant to the chosen lift.
The overall workflow is summarized on How Our Lift Projects Work .
How long does lift installation take?
There is no responsible single duration for every project. Timing can change with the number of stops, lift type, site readiness, equipment availability, civil and electrical work, access, installation scope, testing and any corrections required before handover.
Can a lift be installed in an existing building?
Sometimes, but the available space, proposed shaft, structure, access, number of stops, pit and overhead conditions need to be reviewed before the lift type and dimensions are finalized.
Why are pit and overhead dimensions important?
They are part of the vertical space needed for the selected lift system and its equipment. Required dimensions vary by model, capacity, speed, layout and manufacturer, so project-specific drawings should be used instead of a universal figure.
What is testing and commissioning?
It is the stage after installation or major technical work when relevant lift functions are checked, adjusted and verified before routine use and handover. The exact tests depend on the selected system and completed work.
How often should a lift be maintained?
The correct maintenance plan depends on lift type, age, usage, site conditions, equipment condition, manufacturer guidance and the agreed service program. A single interval should not be treated as universal for every lift.
See lift maintenance and preventive maintenance .
What are common signs that a lift needs technical attention?
Examples include repeated door problems, uneven levelling, unusual noise or vibration, inconsistent operation, recurring shutdowns, visible fault indications or a change in normal ride behaviour.
These symptoms do not identify the failed component by themselves. Diagnosis is still needed.
What information should I provide for a lift repair enquiry?
Share the building location, lift type or model if known, the fault symptoms, when the problem started, whether the lift still operates, recent service history and safe photos of visible error indications if available.
Do not enter the shaft or open electrical equipment simply to collect information. See the lift repair and troubleshooting page .
Should a faulty part be replaced immediately?
Not before the fault is reasonably identified. Door, control, drive, sensor, wiring and mechanical problems can produce similar symptoms. The replacement component also needs to be compatible with the actual lift system.
What is a lift AMC?
AMC generally refers to an annual maintenance contract for agreed elevator service and maintenance coverage. Scope, visits, exclusions, parts and commercial terms should be read from the actual service agreement rather than assumed.
See the dedicated Lift AMC Bangladesh page .
When should an older lift be considered for modernization?
Modernization may be worth reviewing when faults keep returning, parts are becoming difficult to source, door or control problems are persistent, equipment is obsolete, or repeated repairs are no longer addressing the underlying condition.
The decision should follow an assessment of the actual lift. See elevator modernization .
Can only the controller or drive be upgraded?
In some projects a partial modernization may be possible, but the existing motor, doors, wiring, sensors, safety-related equipment and system compatibility need to be reviewed before defining the upgrade scope.
How do I identify the correct elevator spare part?
Use the actual lift model, controller information, part number, photographs, dimensions and connector or mounting details where relevant. Do not assume that visually similar parts are interchangeable.
What if the original spare part is no longer available?
The next step may involve checking a compatible replacement, repairable component, system modification or a broader modernization. The safe option depends on the actual controller, wiring, mechanical interface and function of the part.
What warranty is included with a lift?
Warranty coverage should be confirmed from the actual signed quotation, supplier terms and project agreement. The FAQ should not assume a universal manufacturer warranty, duration or parts coverage.
Review the warranty and after-sales page and the formal warranty & service terms .
What does after-sales support include?
The available support may include maintenance coordination, troubleshooting, repair assessment, parts identification and follow-up service depending on the project and agreed terms. Exact coverage should be confirmed from the relevant proposal or service agreement.
Which areas does Dhaka Lift Solutions serve?
The website has dedicated service-area pages for Bangladesh, Dhaka, multiple Dhaka neighbourhoods and major cities including Chattogram, Sylhet, Khulna, Mymensingh and others.
Browse the service area directory for the planned location pages.
What if my project location is not listed?
Send the exact location through the contact page or quotation page . Service availability can then be reviewed for that project.
Generic answers are useful for planning, but final shaft dimensions, capacity, speed, controller, drive, power requirements, installation details, parts compatibility, warranty and price must follow the actual selected lift and project documentation.
